Except it isn't true.  There have been weeks of screenings for at least the trades,in this and other countries.  filmlover says not everyone will have seen it until after the 19th but the embargo lifts on the 16th.

Every movie has special screenings, but the "normal" press screenings are different. They're at the beginning of the week of release most of the time. Usually some of the big newspapers and other special (or lucky) people can watch the movie before that, but the majority of the press can't before regular press screenings.

39 % Rotten

Rotten: 120
Pratt and Lawrence valiantly try to elevate the material with their individual charms, but there is a palpable lack of romantic chemistry, while the director, Morten Tyldum, fails to steer John Spaihts' undercooked script into a narratively cohesive whole.

Wishful trolling thinking is strong with this one.

Admittedly not.

Well, there's still hope yet.

Why?

You would not be able to enjoy a film if a bunch of strangers had a negative opinion of it?

This is exactly the times we live in: if RT says that a film is bad, people will immediately accept that opinion, no questions asked, and even find ways to rationalize their enjoyment for it, if they happen to enjoy it.

Just take in the film and make your own opinion about it.

Enjoy it, savor it, have fun, and pay no mind to what others want you to think.

True, if I cared about this movie beyond 'Oh, that's pretty'.

There's always fun in seeing scores and numbers, especially since RT scores are about the percent of a small amount of critics who like it (with a variety of what RT considers positive or negative from what the review says anyway) and not really indicative of any quality.

I saw (fake!) numbers, went "damn, okay" and just lived my life for the next, what, hour.

Been busy with work all day. Sorry to keep you waiting.

Knowing almost nothing of it (all I knew was it had Pratt and Lawrence and saw a bit of one trailer), my first impression upon leaving the screening room was that it was a beautiful if flawed film. The visuals are great in 3D. Pratt and Lawrence were both wonderful. Played their parts superbly and liked the humor. The ship design was wonderful in itself. Reminded me of several sci fi movies and games I've played.

What makes this movie is the story. That ending. I think I'll give it a B+ for now.

@Goffe I think there might be some divisiveness over some things. I can already see people criticizing certain scenes (especially towards the end in the film). I dunno if it'll get truly horrible reviews, but I don't expect unanimous praise either. This is my opinion though.
