Neel Sethi did one of the best Mowgli interpretations ever in the Jungle Book. I think he might be in the running for a nomination. Serious.

Neel Sethi was basically acting by himself in the movie, but not only did he be himself and allow his personality to be displayed, but he also demonstrates very good emotional acting. It's not a normal suggestion by any means, but I think he deserves it.

Yeah sorry, if Jacob Tremblay can't get a nomination he's not getting one either. and while he was good, there were still parts where you could tell he was acting.

Something kind of creepy I recently realized-in the past 50 years only 2 underage actors have been nominated (Justin Henry and Hayley Joel Osment), compare that to the number of underage actresses nominated...

Neel Sethi did a good job in The Jungle Book, but I highly doubt that he deserves an Oscar nomination.

Spoiler

Then again, he did make me momentarily forget that he was not actually in danger from fire.

Okay early predictions:

Joel Edgerton for Loving

Andrew Garfield for Silence

Tom Hanks for Sully
Nate Parker for Birth of a Nation

Denzel Washington for Fences

Dang Nate Parker for ruining my one word titles! Maybe someone can replace him!

Nope, I don't believe his role is too prominent

Well so much for my post earlier of "Imagine if Vin Disel gets nominated for actor"

Which I posted since I thought he was the lead of the film!

To me it seems clear that Alwyn is very much the star of Billy Lynn while everyone else is very much supporting.

As I put, I have not seen a trailer for it and I thought it was Diesel in that part as I read that as the top name one day.

I won't be surprised if Denzel waltzes his way to #3 with Fences, tbh. He's obviously beloved and more time will have passed between his second and a potential third (15 years) than his first and second (12 years).

Possible, though only 2 people have ever won acting for a role they directed.

...and the Academy needs to save face after two consecutive years of all-white acting lineups. Giving one of the most consistently popular African-American actors a third Oscar (and making/matching history in the process, given that a win would tie him with Day-Lewis, Nicholson, and Walter Brennan for most acting wins for a male) would be one of the easiest, most comfortable ways of addressing the recent lack of diversity. (Well, that or they could give Viola Davis the Oscar she already should have won for either Doubt or The Help. ;))
