Sunset Boulevard is amazing. William Holden and Gloria Swanson give great performances and the script is excellent. I haven't seen All The President's Men either.
If you liked the Social Network, you'll like Citizen Kane. Similar storyline. Orson Welles' direction and performance are both great. I actually prefer his performance over his direction. His character is all over the map from very charming to complete asshole.Meanwhile, the biggest ones I can think of on my list are Seven Samurai and Lawrence of Arabia.
Biggest flaw on MC is that it only counts so-called top critics. In some ways this is a good thing, but in some ways it isn't. Most top critics are older folks who have a fairly narrow-minded view of what a good movie is. I think there are a number of bloggers on Rotten Tomatoes who absolutely shouldn't be counted on there, but there are plenty of bloggers on there with legitimately solid critical analysis of the films they review.
I tend to agree. Social Network has a lower percentage than Avengers, but its average rating is off the charts compared to where Avengers is sitting right now. Odds are Avengers' average rating isn't going up over the next 200 reviews.
They both have their purposes. Percentage gives you a general idea of whether it's likely a good or bad movie. Average rating tells you just how good or bad it might be.
I watched it one time on one of the movie channels and don't want to ever see it again. Long movies take patience to begin with, never mind long movies that suck.
Where did you see that news posted? I've only seen news that Hobbit will have 10+ minutes. I think TDKR is just going to be the new trailer that will be with Avengers.
Director of Rock of Ages verified that he will be presenting alongside Tim Burton and Chris Nolan. It seems we'll get a picture of the two Batman directors.
