  1. The excuse I tend to make for comic book movies and their cinematic universes is that they're almost a different medium from movies. They are movies, of course, but I view the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically, as an entirely different experience. They're basically comic book chapters or issues on screen. It's getting to a point where these movies should be judged differently. They're formulaic BY DESIGN because that's the point of this whole enterprise. And you know what? I love it! Maybe it makes me a Marvel sucker but I genuinely look forward to going to the next Marvel movie the same way I would look forward to the next issue of a comic series, or the next episode of my favourite TV series.
  2. Parents are so freaking clueless nowadays. I could not believe the amount of children in my showing when I saw DEADPOOL. Disgraceful.
  3. No interest in this whatsoever. I just don't buy Ritchie's vision of this story, at least judging by the trailer.
  4. December is Cameron prime time? Because of the whopping two films he's made in the last 20 years?
  5. Ugh, I don't want a Deckard Shaw team-up with Hobbs and the rest of the crew. Why can't a bad-ass villain STAY a bad-ass villain? It's actually an annoying theme with this whole franchise: antagonist or opposing character ultimately decides the crew is too cool to hate or fight against so instead he joins them.
  6. "2018 isn't happening". Shocking. Lol. *Yawn* See y'all in this thread in 2022 when we finally get a possible 2024 release date.
  7. Really?? Man, I can't imagine just going to 5 or 6 movies a year.
  8. Well that's a bit disappointing. I was hoping it would be legitimately scary. Sitting in the theatre now waiting for it to start.
  9. Woa how did I miss that?? Thanks! And again, I get it all wrong. At least for the better this time. Yet, as you said, it's a steeper drop than that of TFA.
  10. $612,079 for R1. @Porthos Is that on target with regards to the comparison to TFA you've been making?
  11. I see the trailer for this before every movie I've seen recently. Sounds cool.
  12. Saw it last night. It actually wasn't that bad. I'll echo the sentiment that it was an hour and 40 minutes of good fun. Nothing more, nothing less.
  13. Lighten up Francis. Those directors aren't being judged on their originality anyway. They're being judged on their superior ability to bring properties the public love to life on the big screen. Unfortunately for you, those directors will continue to be very successful and ring in the accolades and endorsements.
  14. Darn, was hoping for a better hold for ROGUE ONE. Not that that's a bad drop at all, but I figured it had a shot at close to $8M. Looks like the weekdays are going to pretty good but people are going to seek out other options on weekends. EDIT: Just read your post above, Porthos. Looks like my expectations are irrational again lol.
  15. Bah, the ROGUE ONE daily $1M+ streak comes to an end. Hoping for a real leggy 6th weekend coming up.
  16. I'll be there on opening day. This Ed and Lorraine Warren franchise is the only horror series for which I'll make a point of seeing all the movies in theatres, at least ever since THE CONJURING.
  17. I admit, that was quite the "grasping at straws" post. I was trying to make a point but...that came out.
