  1. While not great, I thought Total Recall was entertaining.

  3. Confusing mess with the only saving grace was Milla Jovovich's wardrobe. If not for The Apparition, this would be at the bottom of my list for 2012. *¼/*****, (D-, 2.5/10, 1/4)
  4. Been many years since I last saw it, but I recall it being a charming rom-com and Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman shared great chemistry. ***¾/*****, (B+, 7.6/10, 3/4)
  5. Watched this earlier today and although it's fairly clinical in its storytelling, I was mostly entertained. Colin Farrell is suitable in the lead, Jessica Biel was... Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale was wondering where her PVC outfit was from Underworld. It's predictable and despite what Len Wiseman contends, not ambiguous at all. I also checked out the extended director's cut and there are few shots/scenes that are different but there are two differences: 1) the Ethan Hawke cameo is back in (during the apartment scene) and 2) the alternate ending actually makes it even less ambiguous than the theatrical version. Oh, and I might've missed it in the theatrical version, but in the DC, it's revealed that . Anyway, not great by any means and you can certainly see all the money being spent in each and every scene, but I was entertained for about two hours. ***½/*****, (B, 6.9/10, 2.75/4)
  6. Yeah, I hate Target's security cases. They also tend to damage slip covers depending on the size (not to mention if the cashier has trouble getting the movie out). I think they also have used the spider security ones (or maybe that's Wal Mart) and those are no better as they put markings on each side of the case.
  7. The fact this did not get a single Oscar nomination is astonishing. Easily should've received a Best Picture, Director, Actor (De Niro), Editing, Sound and Sound Design. One of my all-time favorites and it never gets old. *****/*****, (A+, 10/10, 4/4)
  8. I agree and given Pfister has been nominated for an Oscar (and won for Inception) when working with Nolan (outside of Memento and Insomnia, though with the latter, he deserved a nomination), no doubt he'll get a nomination for TDKR as well.
  9. Just watched this and although it's not even comparable to the other three, it's still entertaining and Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross is a suitable replacement for Jason Bourne. The biggest flaw, however, is the first 10-15 minutes is a bit boring and even confusing as they cut back and forth from one location to another in seemingly 2-3 minute bits, some of which referencing Ultimatum which I had not seen in years, so it was hard to follow. Even so, after that and when they get to the Shearing's house, things pick up and the film finds its footing. Hopefully it made enough to get another movie and perhaps a finale where Cross meets/fights Bourne. ***¾/*****, (B+, 7.6/10, 3/4)
  10. Has some dumb moments but still entertaining. B-
  11. Knowing Warner, they'll likely repackage it with a bonus disc with new content.
  12. Much like grading a movie with an A+, I also don't hand out F's lightly but boy did The Apparition deserve it because this is one of the most harebrained movies I have ever seen. It's a mishmash of "scary" moments that makes no sense in between one-dimensional characters you care nothing about. Even with the nonsensical scare scenes, it's just an all around boring movie. The only saving grace that is keeping this from being THE worst movie I have ever seen (thus an F instead of F-) is Ashley Greene; no she doesn't deliver a good performance, though I doubt any seasoned actress could, but she is cute and looks great in a couple of scenes. If you couldn't tell, I truly hated this movie and the fact it cost $17M is mind-boggling. ½*/*****, (F, 1.0/10, 0.25/4)
  13. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I'd like to see an Earth-Two universe so the Nolan Batman movies still happen but on Earth 2, we've got Batman, Superman and all the other DC characters co-existing.
  14. Will be getting Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as well as Best Buy's 3 James Bond Blu-rays which will complete my Bond collection including the unofficial Never Say Never Again BD (which I recently discovered is OOP and expensive to come by). Also set to get Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 4.
  15. Heat (in my all-time top 10)Se7enToy Story
