Robertron
So, I was right. All the nay-sayers and their "new May releases don't increase on their first Tuesday". I said in the Monday thread that all these rules and precedents will one day be broken - today is that day.
Godzilla
Awesome number for Tuesday.. Will the meltdown commence tomorrow at some point with people labeling it a flop or what??? No one actually believes the movie has flopped domestically. A 380-390M finish is still a big 70-80M jump from IM2, which is impressive. Neo
IM3 could just play out like Thior: http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=thor.htm Fri: 127% Sat: 66% Sun: -33% If that happens, it would do about Fri: 18.6 Sat: 29.7 Sun: 20.0 69.5 or so Thats a 60% drop that is harsh. Jay Beezy
So, I was right. All the nay-sayers and their "new May releases don't increase on their first Tuesday". Neo
The question is why wasn't Monday below a 70% drop? Did something happen on Monday? ? Monday fell by 73.8%.
Jay Beezy
? Monday fell by 73.8%. Which is above 70%. A drop greater than 70%. Edited May 9, 2013 by Jay Beezy
Dementeleus
Somewhere around $71m-71.5m seems right for second weekend.
Robertron
Anything over $70m for second weekend and I'll be happy. Not one that's good at the whole extrapolation thing so I'm not going to even try.
Neo
Which is above 70%. A drop greater than 70%. why wasn't Monday below a 70% drop? 73% is below 70%. Did you mean below as in 69, 68, etc? I took below to mean under, but you meant it as better than 70%, right? Edited May 9, 2013 by Neo

MovieMan89
Awesome to see IM3 increase! I saw it a 2nd time today and unfortunately it didn't hold up quite as well for me on a repeat viewing. I was actually surprised because I kinda thought I'd like it better the 2nd time. Still better than IM2 for me, but it's a lot closer to that movie in quality than I would have liked. Olive
And below 8M ,it'd be down to SM3 again.
blackspider
Below 8m would be pretty bad. That's a 29% drop. That would make a 70m+ weekend that much tougher.
