So Fast 6 is definitely outgrossing Fast 5 (Closer to $250M) and Star Trek Into Darkness is definitely cracking $200M (Around $210-$220M).

You don't think Fast 6 has a chance at 300 m with it's positive WOM?Alot of movies with a similar 5-day (around 120 m) got there.

There is a chance, sure. But I don't see it happening.

EDIT: What ShawnMR said.

There wasn't a doubt that FF6 would open big. But there's always a question on its legs. F5 was a breakout but only had a 2.4 multiplier. F6 will likely be even more front loaded. Edited by WileECoyote

F5 was definitely a breakout.

Which makes FF6's success more impressive.

I think the studios have a very nicely differentiated set of releases in May here. All cater to different demographics. Trekkies are too proud to be a Marvelite. While girlfriends are pulling the jock boyfriends off Wolfpack to GATSBY, others still show up for Rainbow Coalition FF6 (black, Italians, Hispanics, Asians are all well represented), a nice non-conformist counterpoint to the dull idealism of STAR TREK. Families shun all the fireworks and drag their kids to a safe EPIC. And everybody wins out. Except for the Wolfpack.

FF5 was predicted to be a breakout? I remember even industry people were astonished by its domestic AND international performance. Young Europeans, especially the growing minorities there, dig Vin's persona. Asians love racing and they got their rocks off with these movies. The audience reaction was overwhelmingly positive at a screening a few days ago.
