Indian Box Office Thread | Jawan overtakes Pathaan, becomes highest grossing Indian movie of 2023

Recommended Posts

TJB collected 188 crore nett. Avengers will be at 185-186 crore after Sunday and should surpass TJB on Monday. It should cross 200 crore mark by Thursday.

In gross terms, however, Avengers will be able to surpass TJB during next weekend only. TJB came pre-GST, so due to higher taxes, the gross collection amounted to 261 crore, which at present tax rates is 203.6 crore nett.

IMO, the current target for Avengers is 300 crore gross (234 crore nett).

It is upto $28.3m USD and should be more than 30 going into the weekend. This weekend I also expect it to pass Jungle Book and take the #1 spot of highest grossing foreign movie.

Nearly impossible I would say. Even if it doubles what Age of Ultron did it will still fall short by 5 million(32crores) or so.

JW and F7 on the other hand require only a 46% increase which is doable but difficult

Nah if the previous 125cr inr OW post is anything to go by it can reach $30 Mill just by 2nd week.

That projection is a very big if though and also every previous Avenger movies were like the Top hollywood grosser at there time and also online ticket booking have exponentially since 2015.

Right now I'd say it does 2.5-3x fo whatever BP did

Never forget.

You heard it hear first.

IW jumped about 27% from Saturday to Sunday with a gross of about $2.55m usd on Sunday. Total weekend gross was about $5.9m usd

Total up to $36m USD. Very close to beating TJB for the #1 crown. Should overtake today in terms of nett and in next few days in terms of gross

Good drop on Monday of about 62% for a gross of $950k. Running total is now about $37m usd.

IW surpassed TJB in nett BO today and should surpass it in gross BO by Thursday or Friday at least.

With just a drop of 12% today Infinity War continues its amazing run. Total is now up to $37.9m with a gross of about $830k usd.

It will become the first hollywood movie ever to cross 2 billion nett in local currency tomorrow. It will also cross TJB in gross figures by Thursday

With barely any competition in its 3rd week from hollywood or bollywood, IW should continue to dominate the Indian BO.

Will the ending of IW, cause increased interest for Avengers 4 in India?

Like Why did Katappa kill Bahubali (likely not, but that is likely the biggest cliffhanger ever in an Indian movie)

IW brought way more people in to see the movie compared to the number of people who generally see MCU or SH movies due to its hype and WoM.

Many would now want to watch more MCU movies due to IW.

As for A4, those who saw this will definitely want to find out how it all unravels so A4 will definitely have the hype and big numbers. But repeat viewings will depend on the quality of the movie itself. If the movie is great then it could do similar or even greater numbers but if the movie is not as good as this one then the numbers will definitely fall, maybe to f7 or JW level

IW dropped about 12% from yesterday and grossed about $734k on Wednesday for a total of $38.5m usd.

IW also becomes the only foreign movie to cross 2 billion in nett box office in local currency!

The Jungle Book will be passed today in gross terms too!!

These numbers in India! Iconic!:ohmygod:

Yup! Before its release most of them were predicting a number close to F7 or JW but AIW surpassed all the expectations and beat TJB by a very good margin inspite of lesser number of screens!

If people were thinking of FF7 or JW numbers , they clearly don't have a clue about boxoffice. I expected the film to go pass 50million usd comfortably. The film being just one time watch didn't help prospects.

When Avengers 1 came..it was relatively new for indian audience, the market was increased for avengers2 but was thrown of by negative talk.

And in between avengers3.. series had increased its strength by success of new characters like GOTG Dr Strange Spidey etc...n successful other films

With the introduction of all these new characters.... avengers3 curiousity was even bigger than avengers1 and now has even wider audience...n had room for culmination of people who were watching their favorite hero film in theatres and others in torrents or streaming or other ways like rentals , dvd , blurays

This applies not only to india , asia but almost all markets...it was always going to be big.

People are not done with this series...they will be back for A4.. unless it's meh like A4... that will again have another gud jump...

Don't expect other movies to have big jumps in MCU universe by seeing this movie performance... people will still stick to other ways as usual.......

Ant-Man should have a jump as part1 was extremely liked, nothing much related to this avengers performance

Infinity War is now the 15th highest grossing movie in India (1st for foreign movies). Its gross is at $41.1m approximately.

For reference the only other foreign movie in the top 50 is The Jungle Book which sits at 22nd place.

IW may probably get as high as 14 but it wont go much further as Deadpool is coming out this week. Although the first one didnt do great in India (only making about $2.6m) and this one will also likely not make too much over that but it will still take away some screens especially PLF and Imax screens which will hurt IW.

No Offence. If you expected it to pass 50m that was your expectations. If others like me expected it to pass 30m its our expectations. No body expected it would gross 380m OS. People started to get an idea when it opened and how it was sustaining over the weekend.

AIW overperformed everywhere and nobody was accurate. That shows the range of the movie.

I hope DP2 breaks out. People enjoyed DP2 trailers alot. Gauging this i hope it overperforms as first one was very well received after its theatrical performance. Hindi version has been dubbed by Ranveer singh and views are huge in YT.

Hopefully it surprises like AIW!
