baumer
MOS is going down. But for now can we refrain from anymore Gravity threads?
baumer
This will take down Avatar, srsly. Seriously, there is no way in hell that happens. With Avatars multiplier, it gets to 550.

baumer
Lol come on man, you actually replied to that joke? I'm just stating the absolute ceiling, if it was to get to Avatar's multiplier.
GiantCALBears
I wanted (still may) to create a contest thread for the person who can predict the first day Gravity drops below $1m in daily gross. So hard to forecast at this point.
zackzack
I think Inception is a better comparison. 2nd weekend 32% 3rd weekend 35.7% 4th weekend 32.7% 5th weekend 39% ow=62.7m total dom=292.5M If Gravity has similar drops it should crack or get close to 300m With Oscar nominations, it might get beyond $290M to $300M super blockbuster status Best Picture Best Actress Best Director Best Editing Best Cinematography Best Art Direction Best Sound Best Sound FX Best Visual FX Best Score 10 Nominations very possible Cuaron may get one, Virtual sweep of the Technical categories. Locked: Sound FX, Visual FX It may not earn much after Oscar but the Nominations hype will add some ($10-$15M) to the final gross.
DussyMob
I think it has a good chance at BP because it's been awhile since a sci-fi movie won.

The Panda
Gravity, the film to dethrone Avatar...and Avengers, who knew? I would flip bricks in excitement if Gravity could dethrone either of those, heck i'd flip bricks if it beat Iron Man 3, or even Despicable Me 2, and I would say Man of Steel but that looks inevitable right now. Captain Craig
I expected it be quality but not rush out to see it quality. So I think a fair number of us would consider this film a 'surprise breakout' film of 2013 whenever the lists start up at the end of the year.
