It depends on how it does in China. If this film is more well-liked & well-received than "Age of Extinction" & "Revenge of the Fallen"....it could have the potential to gross more. But that's a big IF.

IMAX 70mm on celluliod is special (way ahead of the usually 35mm and 70mm). IMAX 3D is not even close to being as special. IMAX 3D cameras are basically Alexa 65 6Ks, but only under the eye catching name "IMAX". Alexa 65 6K is only one of the top digital cameras out there. Don't get a hard on everytime you hear IMAX. IMAX digital cameras are not that special.

But still! So far its demands Imax more than the rest, even if its just 1 viewing. 

 

Ill see Dunkirk 2 times maybe 3 in Imax. Ill see TLJ 5-6 times in theaters a few in imax.

Transformers is Paramounts main big franchise. If more people listen to RT these days as suggested then not releasing likely vitriolic reviews ahead of time is the right way to try to maximize profit
