I like how the number has gotten progressively better over the weekend.  First we were panicking over a 130m DH1-like performance, then a bit more relieved that it would beat New Moon but still kind of disappointed about 140-150m, and now after all that most people are reasonably happy about 161m.

Sad thing about this weekend is that...

We will likely have to wait to May 2015 for such a big similar opening or any opening/daily record to fall.

Savour it friends.

I'm sorry to rain on everyone's parade here but it's funny to me how everyone is so happy with the 160 now that you were expecting to hear 150 after early Friday reports.  Many people here had it doing 175-180 and proclaiming that it was next to impossible for it to miss 170.  It's just one more example of how none of us, myself included, should ever say it's impossible for a film to miss any given number.

It's all relative.

I think backloaded smaller weekend is much better than uber frontloaded bigger OW. This really bodes well for its legs with WOM being so positive.

Looking like the storms are mostly affecting the lower middle of the country (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and upper middle, though most of that is in Canada, East and West coats are free to continue dominating the BO.
