From last tweet: I'm estimating GUARDIANS ends around $730m worldwide. $505m + $100m (existing markets) + $125m (China/Japan/Italy/Germany).

I stay cautious as always and especially in this case (as IMHO really difficult to predict especially Asian reactions to special kind of humor)

We may all know that Mockingjay - Part 1 will surpass GotG in North America, a likely outcome for Hobbit 3 as well. However, the fact that the two highest-grossing films for the first 10-and-a half months of the year will probably be Marvel films is just outstanding. What is left for Marvel to accomplish after this? Oh, I guess Avengers 2 has to take down Avatar and that's it.  :P

Weekend endingAug 10 137.3Aug 17 197.6 = 60.3 for the week in between  *adjusted up 1.2Aug 24 238.2 = 40.6 for the week in between *adjusted up .6Aug 31 273.1 = 34.9 for the week in between

-14%  with Germany and Austria market opening.  Good hold.

Box Office Mojo ‏@boxoffice mojo 41 mins 'Guardians' opened to $7M in Germany this weekend. That's up 74% on 'Captain America 2' but down 17% from 'Thor 2': http://bit.ly/1Cg7HW3

I don't see Austria numbers but assuming it follows CATWS which was about 10% of Germany, it'll be around 700K -800K so say 7.8 for new territories. 27.1 week excluding new openings.

The weekend gross was $19.7m.

Down -7.5% from last weekend and for holdovers, assuming 11.9 weekend, -44% from 21.3 last weekend. Still good hold for OS markets

The weekend gross was $19.7m.

With $7m in Germany that's $12.7m from holdovers - another good 40% drop. Edit- Didn't include Austria as point out - so about 44% drop

Schools starting so the weekdays are no longer going to be as robust. So about another $35-40m from those markets.

Left to open Italy & Japan - about $16m (or the Japanese go crazy over it like Frozen and it makes $200m)

$273 + $40+ $16 = $329m

$310 - $315m Domestic

High end $645m without China

10th october.

Given its strong holds all over the world, my hopes for 100m are again getting rekindled.

Stronger holds and openings though in Europe than LA and LA than Asia.

So, will it be yet another $100m+ movie in China or will China act more like the rest of Asia in regards to GOTG vs TWS , DOFP and ASM2.

But even doing "only" $60m it should break $700m.  If it does $100m then $745m
