Guardians of the Galaxy OS Thread($768M WW Total )

Recommended Posts

Must have dropped harder than I expected.... SK was no surprise, it seems in UK also it was badly affected.

Still, well on track for 350m OS and 600m+ WW.

It also had openings last week in a few Asian markets where drops are usually high (Philippines, Hong Kong etc) .  Russia was it's biggest market and it's also front loaded.

It’s has now grossed over $313M worldwide since bowing last weekend, bouyed by an estimated take of around $176M after this weekend domestically. It took in $40.1M this weekend in over 50 markets but has yet to bow in some big territories, namely China, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. So it’s still rockin’ and rollin’ around the globe with Russia and the UK becoming its strongest territories so far with $23.9M and $22.8M, respectively. In Russia, it has already run over Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the firstCaptainThor 1 and Iron Man (the first one) — no small feat. And in Australia it bowed to No. 1 to bring in $6M and, so with previews has culled together a strong $8.2M. It’ll open in France and Spain next weekend and won’t hit China until Oct. 10.

It seems to behave more like Thor than CA, in the sense that if Russia, the UK and Australia are of any indications, the movie resonates better with a european/western audience than an asian and south american one.

This could be a great sign as there there are still important european markets to open.

It should play well in France, Italy and Germany and make up for the underwhelming asian ratio.

I hope not.. Despite all the praising in this room, this film does not deserve to beat Cap2 WW or domesitc. Great movie , but its not a Cap2.. I think it should pass 640M WW. TIme will tell

Yeah.... right now 700m is looking difficult. Probably a finish around 650m.

Beside liking both named movies: every non-propaganda or violence... promoting movie deserves each earned dollar

Cowabunga and the shell shock on Guardians by little turtles is awesome.

Though Guardians is the slightly better film because of its more epic and deeper story :)

I really hope people start to read up on what shell shocked even means, one of the worst newly created word-meaning-change tries of the year IMHO

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_shock

In too many countries in this very moment countless people are suffering from that

That would be great, I predicted a WW gross of 660m. Albeit a little less on the domestic and more overseas. And really domestic is the most important

Despite the arrival of The Inbetweeners 2, Guardians of the Galaxy enjoyed an excellent $5.6m (£3.3m) second weekend.Disney’s latest Marvel outing has now reached $23.2m (£13.8m) after just 11 days in play and will shortly overtake Thor’s $23.6m (£14.04m) UK haul. It’s in a great position to hit £20m and potentially surpass Iron Man 2’s $35.6m (£21.2m) as the third best Marvel Studios release in the UK.

Top two are Avengers and IM3 right? Great result for Guardians there.
