The Alien Queen is the most beautiful monster in the History of film.

The first time I saw her, my jaw was literally on the floor and the way we discover her is so powerful.

The breath, the eggs,  the appendice and then the Mother !

 

Three geniuses worked on it :

 

H.R Giger (indirectly), James Cameron & Sir Stan Winston (RIP Legend)

What makes Alien so great is it's human element. You have a ship full of people (and a synth) that have no idea what's going on. You feel the terror and suspense every time a crew member is killed. Aliens still has the human element with Ripley and Newt, but it's also much more like a mother/daughter situation so the two really can't be compared.

Aliens feels very 80s and does get hokey a few times, its an extremely well made video game movie.

All the alien attacks in Aliens are stressful.

 

Alien is a bit too much Jaws-y to me.

Show me the monster please, we barely see it in Alien.

 

Make no mistake it s a monumental film in every way.

My favorite behind the scenes part about Alien is how the cast had no idea Jon Hurt would have fake blood coming out of him. That's genuine fear.

Aliens has tons of atmosphere, the whole part before the first attack (later also) bristles with very eery bits. It's not "just" an action movie.

All the scenes when they discover the abandoned planet are fantastic.

 

The sound design, Horner s score.

 

Aliens, first Mecha in a live action movie.

 

Invented the most popular action video game genre.

Aliens is a fantastic movie, but I hate how they take the 'perfect killing machine' and turn them to be pretty easy to kill. I hate that they turn them into a mindless horde protecting their queen.

 

In Alien, the xenomorph is intelligent, tactile and patient. It made it scarier. The mystery behind this monster was its power.

 

Aliens is a great action movie, one of the greatest. Its build up and tension is great but too many characters feel wafer thin and the fear factor isn't felt, until we meet the queen.
