Will any movie ever crush the worldwide record like Titanic and Avatar did?

Finally had a chance to see this after a densely packed December. It is quite visually stunning in IMAX 3D and I kept thinking there was no way they could top this scene, then they kept doing it again and again. It's mindblowing how seamless it looks all together but one thing really impressed me was the physics and the action sequences. Cameron just has a thing about making the action feel so kinetic and it really shows. It feels super impactful in this movie and easily craps on anything else with CGI action. Neytiri just killing things with those giant arrows made you feel every impact in IMAX and never got tired of that. I did notice a judder in framerate during HFR sequences but only once or twice.

Also Cameron paying tribute to Titanic and The Abyss in the last section of the movie was definitely a Cameron thing.

It's too bad the story and writing was meh at best to the point I was kind of bored at the halfway point (thankfully the last act was enough). But it kind of makes sense since the Avatar series is more of a technology vehicle for him. I was also quite disappointed in the soundtrack since the only memorable bits were from Horner's soundtrack in the first movie. The performances were good.

Overall, the first movie I give a slight edge to. Well worth the cinematic experience.

The Navi sized oakleys gave me a chuckle.

I don't think any film is ever going to double the previous record like TITANIC did. The next film would have o make $5.84b, putting GWTW's admissions record to dust and that's only if some movie doesn't marginally overtake AVATAR in the meantime.

Franglen did competently but is missing that magic "Horner" touch. There was some stuff particularly at the end that was pretty good but i felt like in a bunch of places music was kinda ordinary background noise instead of really elevating a scene, like the Banshee ride in the original for instance.

Oh, well, i didn't really expect anybody to do James Horner as well as James Horner. He was one of a kind in my opinion. RIP. :(

+SPIRIT TREE + SONG CHORD

Very nice brother Jimbo!🦝👍

. Glad most of here appreciate great work mixed with hornets. Perfectly capturing the sadness of Jake and Neteyri and the kiri and loaks  insecurities and then how they rise to overcome and have their moment.

Cameron did well with his picking of a composer for new works for A2 -A3 my brother. Love it. And Simon stayed in the spirit hornets music ontop of all the pressure to come up with great stuff.

Horner definitely  the best along with the gent that did Jaws, indy, superman and swars,.jp to name a few. RIP. I Still rem the shock of his plane crash  accident back in 2015. Wow🤕😪

. Simon and Horner and Kuk also did that awesome I see you song in Avatar.

I liked quite a few pieces of music from the composr. These 3 are my faves though as its the music they play with the kids underwater playing about -

1:15 onwards on this is probably my fave music from the film

And this one, amazing.

Horner was really one of the kind. Zimmer was just as good up to a pooint, but he's been trippin for the last 15 or so years.

Not sure who's left, capable of even appproaching horner. Michael giacchino might be ok. Clint mansell might be able to surprise. Heck, even junkie xl might not be a bad choice.
