This is a microcosm of why Kal doesn't understand box office.

 

First Blood to Rambo

Austin Powers to Austin Powers 2

Lethal Weapon Lethal WEapon 2

Mad Max The Road Warrior

 

These are all films that started off with mild grosses for the original and then blew up for the second because there was plenty of room to grow.  Terminator is not an excpetion and it doesn't fit into any kind of mold when trying to determine how much Avatar is going to make.  

 

But then you have films like 

 

Jaws

Start Wars

Raiders of the lost Ark

Beverly Hills Cop

Spiderman

Harry Potter

 

and too many others to name which show that films that films that were huge in their original just couldn't maintain that kind of pace for the sequel for a litany of reasons.  One, is that the curiosity factor isn't there, 2) what goes up must come down 3) it will have undoubtedly lost some of the fans over the years....fatigue so to speak and so on

 

Kal will just gloss by all of this as will his minions.

 

So I'm just wasting my fingers at this point.

Zoe is good but I doubt she will break out like Jlaw outside franchise movies. But she at least has a successful career unlike Worthington whose career looked promising when he was doing TS along with Avatar and then did clash of the titans. But he is almost no where in the picture.

 

Interesting point about this is its first cameron sequel since T2. But T2 was made at the peak of Arnie's career. Here its all JC. That will help it a lot but cannot become a phenomenon on its own. He should have rather done something different considering he makes one movie in a decade !!! Most probably this one will release in 2020.
