On Monday, less than a week after Sony dropped the picture, Universal Studios picked it up. According to theHollywood Reporter, which broke the news, it was shopped to Universal — with Michael (Inglourious Basterds) Fassbinder in the title role — for more than $30 million.

So they paid twice as much as the last steve jobs movie made domestic. this better hope to be a serious awards contender. I like Fassbender but he won't draw the people in like Bale or Leo could've.

Wow, $30M spent before production even started? On a biopic, no less? It probably has to make at least $100M to break even. Maybe they should sell ipads at the theaters.

Natalie Portman is in talks to join Universal’s Steve Jobs biopic. Character details were not revealed, but it is expected to be a major role.

After beginning discussions to join “Jobs” before the Thanksgiving break, Natalie Portman has parted ways with the female lead in the Steve Jobs biopic.

“Jobs” currently stars Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steven Wozniak with Danny Boyle directing. Aaron Sorkin penned the script with Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady producing.

The pic is based on the Walter Isaacson biography and was originally set up at Sony before Universal picked it up out of turnaround when Sony let it go.

I just watched that episode. What a horrible mish-mash of 5 or 6 competing plotlines, none of them even making a lick of sense. The rape plotline was the most tasteless among them. No one on that show talks like a human being, and everyone is an expert in everything.

I remember seing a video of youtube and you could see that Sorkins ripped off entire pieces of dialogs from other tv shows , that video was quite disturbing ...

Thanks to the sony hackers a shitton of emails between scott rudin, amy pascal, david fincher, michael deluca etc... all got leaked mostly revolving around this movie. I dunno what the policy is posting leaked stuff like that here but it's all on gawker.
