Starting again is insane but they can drop the Kang stuff and Multiverse saga. What Marvel need is a new range of characters who KNOW EACH OTHER and have some drama. They achieved that with Avengers but now they need to achieve it a second time but keep it fresh - which is not easy. They probably lost too many characters at once but the Disney Plus and COVID have stopped them really expanding new characters with audiences. They probably do need a New Avengers movie. The current slate just looks horrible for them.
vafrow
If GOTG3 does fail, both in terms of opening and lack of legs, I really don't know how Disney will respond. The pressure to keep the Marvel cash cow running is going to be coming from the board and investors, and it's going to lead to bad and short sighted decision making. Dropping him is not the right thing to do. Fans will question that whether they liked Phase 4 or not. What Disney needs to do is focus on what they have planned and deliver good stories.

For now there will sure be pressure but if it doesn't recover on the short term my guess is that it won't be totally over but the pressure will be on their other companys to make up for the loss of their biggest moneymaker (box office wise) like push even harder their animation franchises with idk The Incredibles 3, Finding Nemo 3, Inside Out 3 depending on next year, more Zootopia and Toy Story, live-action Frozen, maybe even Coco 2 since the gross wasn't so far from Inside Out, also sequels to any of their upcoming original if they become hits. Same with Star Wars and the pressure to get SOMETHING on the big screen again.

His only continuation after Ant Man was a poorly received post credit scene. Finish him in Loki. Done.

The trades will milk this big time. Social media would go nuts. It's going to be a PR nightmare.

If GOTG 3 opens around $100M, and loses money theatrically (aka, doesn't profit til streaming and beyond), it's already a PR nightmare. See Justice League. To drop Kang, all you say is: "We are pivoting to what our fans want. Bigger and better. So, we will be adjusting our MCU plans going forward, resolving any future currently planned story lines through our D+ outlet while we work on expanding our Marvel world in bolder and brighter directions in a distinct theatrical-only world." That would be nuts especially with LOKI Season 2 happening soon. It might seem easier said than done. Again, to me, make the stories better, but don't drop Kang. robertman2
I don't think people would care that much if they Poochied Kang
AMC Theaters Enjoyer
Feel like if they changed story plans/villains now then that’s basically them making the same mistakes that TROS did only on a bigger scale.
Willowra
First, they need to announce the Avengers cast and tell us who the hell the main protagonist of this saga is, and then we can discuss the MCU's future. My guess for the main protagonist is either Captain America, Captain Marvel, or Spider-Man.
excel1
1) LOL GOTG3 isn't opening to sub $100m. 2) No Way Home was only 17 months ago. One of the biggest films of all time. Still massive demand for comic book films, but some of Marvel's properties are far too oversaturated. Combine that with subpar quality and this is what happens. 3) If THE FLASH turns out to be significantly bigger than GOTG3, it is an obvious sign that freshness is needed. NamakFiskKa
Ignore things that don't work like you ignored legacy characters like Black Widow and Hulk. MCU is not alien to ignoring previously setup arcs and characters in favor of other directions , Thor's development gets reset everytime. Abandoning chracter arcs that were teased in multiple movies was such an MCU thing in the 2010s lol.

Wouldn't be anywhere near as big a PR nightmare when Kang Dynasty ends up being a box office flop, if not a box office bomb. Now is the time for Feige to throw away egos and admit he fucked up. Trying to pretend the MCU is all fine and no course correction is needed is going to make things worse.
