Honestly just some of the dumbest discourse online is about "race swapping" or "gender swapping" characters. People need to get a life. Star in the making seems a stretch IMO. Disney has been trying to make her happen and so far nah. Star in the making is more like Pugh,Zendaya,Anya Taylor joy ... Gal Gadot is beautiful but year her acting is mid at best. Don't personally think race swapping character is dumb discourse and I think more discussion on this should be had. Lately so we have had so many pointless race swaps for just ticking boxes and 90% of these characters end up soulless and just forgettable. As African grew up watching most of these movies and loved them for what they were and the characters were relatable and didn't need to see myself or my race in them and related to them as poeple . Find this whole race swapping for the most part pretentious and tokenising. Projects like BP,Jordan Peele movies,the wire,static shock etc is more of what makes me feel more represented than bland cooperate choices I will forget soon after leaving the theatre. But Snow White was stupid on Disney’s part. These morons wouldn’t stfu about a freakin mermaid being race-swapped and now they are going to do it to a character that is literally named for her white skin in the story? It’s just giving these people all the ammo they need to create chaos. In this case, I think it was a mistake decision since they easily could have cast a Hispanic actress in a similar kind of Disney role where it wasn’t such an open invitation for these people. I understand that this whole sotry was a misread that Iger was considering selling off the Star India streaming network, which, since it lost the vitallly important sports contracts ,has been a loser for Disney. As for the rest regarding her star in the making argument and my general crux of my argument in regards to race swapping I stand by that and largest percentage of those characters never work or live any impact even when you cieve out all the backlash. Original characters have always succeeded more and with less backlash involved.
