Movie That Should Be Re-Rated PG-13, PG or G

Recommended Posts

Terminator 3 and The Matrix trilogy could all pass as PG-13s. Apart from the violence, what garnered them the Rs??? Reloaded I could somewhat understand, but Revolutions is straight up PG-13. Speed could also be PG-13. Alien and Aliens can still garner the R-ratings. If Prometheus did, the originals certainly can.

some of these are R's simply because of the F bombs

If Matrix or T2 were released today, they would be edited to get PG-13 ratings. Damn theatre owners are the reason every movie is watered down these days. Why can't they just let kids into R rated movies like they did in the pre-1999 years? :)

Honestly, no one checks what theater you go into... you could pay for one film and walk into another. As long as they get your money and you're not sneaking into IMAX or 3D on a regular 2D ticket  ;)

Granted, both are fairly mild Rs to begin with, so they could have been PG-13 and still been great (T2 not so much, since the gritty aspect would have to go away

Well, yeah. But studios probably aren't too keen on another movie making money while teens sneak into their R-rated film :)

Article listing some odd MPAA Rating descriptions: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/some-rear-nudity-to-a-smoking-caterpillar-the-86717195402.html

The Skateboard Kid II (1995): “Rated PG for brief mild language and an adolescent punch in the nose."Bushwhacked (1997): “Rated PG for language and a mild birds and bees discussion.”The Indian In The Cupboard (1995): “Rated PG for mild language and brief video images of violence and sexy dancing.”Alice In Wonderland (2010): “Rated PG for fantasy action/violence involving scary images and situations, and for a smoking caterpillar.”

I don't think there should be restricted ratings, because it's very arbitrary. If the ratings are supposed to serve as a guideline, then restricting someone under the age of 17 from seeing that movie is not a guideline, it's a rule. The MPAA should just let parents make their own decisions, and focusing on feedback and different parents decisions rather then deciding who can see a movie and who can't. But of course that would destroy their ultra-conservative, white-washed sensitive agenda.

Isn't that what the MPAA does anyway outside of NC-17? That being said, we Brits have much more restricted ratings (15 and 18) and we rarely have problems with them.

our rating system is lame. You have to be 18 to watch a film that features sex but you can legally have sex at the age of 16?? or even join the army?
