I'm not going to jump over the moon over the words of someone who's involved in the movie. The Rock is a producer in addition to being the star so of course he's going to promote promote promote.

On the other hand, the Rock hasn't had a truly awful movie since, I dunno, the Tooth Fairy? Let's just say I trust him over Sandler hack director Dennis Dugan saying Jack and Jill tested well all across the board.

Notfabio said that it's been testing well, though I asked him if that was only based on a certain Deadline comment and he didn't respond.

There's another "mystery" major studio screening as well, but not even a studio confirmation yet. My guess would be Baywatch....

Since that allegedly has been testing well.

Top Gun has been in development forever and the latest “take” centering on drone warfare is lame. Guess how it ends? Machines can never replace Icemen! Remarkably, Baywatch has tested well and could be a Jump Street franchise for them which I never thought possible.

This is opening the same day as Pirates. Weird that it didn't move. That's tough competition

And next week WW debuts

It actually moved *to* that date after Alien Covenant moved up to its old date.

And it's not like Pirates and Baywatch are going to get the exact same crowds.

Paramount has been making questionable decisions lately, so they either don't know what they are doing or they have already thrown Baywatch to the sharks.

Yes, but I expect Pirates of the Caribbean to suck the air out of the box office during that weekend.

Pirates ain't a sure thing anymore, particularly if Guardians of the Galaxy 2 does spectacularly as we all expect it to. What if Baywatch is better than expected and Pirates is just as mediocre as the previous sequels?

Then I'll probably see it on opening weekend. I'm not saying it won't. It's probably going to make some money because Dwayne Johnson is one of the lead characters.

But considering how much money Stranger Tides made---even though it was a stinking turd---I wouldn't be surprised if it made more than $1 billion just as easily as that film.
