I don't even have anything against Antz and for a long time preferred it to A Bug's Life, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think it was produced in direct response to A Bug's Life. That was a time when Katzenberg was excessively bitter about leaving Disney and wanted to get back at them.With Boo and Monsters Inc it's far more of a stretch. First of all it was one of the ideas conceived at that iconic "roundtable" meeting among the braintrust who as far as I'm aware had zero connection to anyone at Dreamworks at the time. It's possible that it might have been an idea that Katzenberg had floated while he was there and Pete Docter ran with it, but to go from that to "ripoff" is highly unfair, especially since we still have no clue what the actual story of BOO will be. And if it does turn out to be highly similar to Monsters Inc then I think Dreamworks deserves blame for not spending that fourteen+ years of development making the film more unique.EDIT: Well, I see you edited the sarcastic "sure". The KFP sequel is obligatory because of KFP2's cliffhanger (DVD sales were not good) and we've known a Penguins movie was in development for a while. Probably just a week later, though.DWA's position right now is pretty unprecedented. I don't think any animation studio has been able to churn out quality entertainment at the rate they're planning on doing it up to this point.
