The TV show has definently hurt the Penguins movie. Always hard to get people to pay for something they think they can see for free on TV.

Yes - the show has to be HUGE, and people have to REALLY want to pay to see the movie. This has only really worked three times: The Rugrats Movie, Pokemon: The First Movie, and The Simpsons Movie. Two of them were at the absolute height of their popularity, and the other was the f'n Simpsons.
