WKND Est. - Hobbit 56M, NATM 17M, Annie 16M, Exodus 8M, Mockingjay 7M, John Wick 115K, Interview 0M

I liked An Unexpected Journey and thought Smaug was even better. Battle of the Five Armies is the best of the 3, tho.

For me it's slightly below Unexpected Journey since there's some missing character beats in the middle and epilogue sections and the Battle itself has a decent amount of sloppy editing with characters and events simply dropping out of existence until very brief reappearances at the end.

just a tiny warning here: Hobbit is being estimated to have a better Sunday hold than everything else, so it may be overestimated

PK did 3.5M?? Not surprised due to the amount of sellouts I saw, but this isn't an out and out action movie like Dhoom 3 from last year, it is more a comedy. Great OW for it, especially debuting in the top 10.

Wonder if it will have a crossover audience like Dhoom 3 did last year.

Today had been completely insane for The Hobbit over here. The 1 PM show I went was packed and shows at this time over here usually have no more than 20-30 people in a Sunday. There were 150 people in that screen. It is gonna be the 3rd biggest OW in the last 2 years. The 3-5 PM shows were virtually sold out everywhere.

How's the economy?

Same as it was last year. I think it is more of an effect of not existing a big movie this year during the whole Summer (and the proof was Lucy selling an insane 310000 tickets in August). People were waiting and Hunger Games and Hobbit were lucky enough to be the ones.
