WrathOfHan
New predictions: Very likely: 1. Mark Rylance Likely: 2. Sylvester Stallone 3. Jacob Tremblay Though Sly wasn't nominated at SAG, screeners weren't sent so it doesn't hurt him too much. Out of the remaining 4 SAG nominees, Tremblay is the most likely. Last two spots: 4. Mark Ruffalo 5. Tom Hardy 6. Walton Goggins 7. Michael Keaton 8. Christian Bale 9. Idris Elba 10. Michael Shannon A vote split happened with Ruffalo and Keaton at SAG, so be prepared for one here. Elba and Shannon still seem like longshots, but the field has been narrowed down at least. Edited December 9, 2015 by WrathOfHan
The Panda
I think Hardy might be out, DiCaprio got a nomination from the Revenant, and Hardy missed to outsiders. Stallone has a chance, but I think he's far from a sure-thing. Mark Ruffalo and Keaton could easily vote split again in a crowded field. I think it's possible they cancel each other out and others get in. Locked 1.Mark Rylance Competing for the Rest in a Jumbled Field 2.Christian Bale 3.Stallone 4.Tremblay 5.Elba 6.Ruffalo 7.Keaton 8.Hardy 9.Shannon
CoolioD1
I'd wager Christian Bale Idris Elba Michael Keaton Mark Rylance Sylvester Stallone. think keaton wins out between the spotlight guys. feel like overall i've seen more kudos for the work and he's just that bit more respected. The Panda
I think Ruffalo and Keaton are out of the race because of the vote split. Christian Bale and Elba should be in now, Shannon is competing. 1.Mark Rylance 2.Christian Bale 3.Idris Elba 4.Michael Shannon 5.Sylvester Stallone Outskirts 6.Tremblay 7.Dano 8.Ruffalo 9.Keaton

Kalo
There were so many good performances from supporting actors this year, I feel like this is the most competitive acting category this year.
Impact
I just noticed Keaton is not nominated at the Globes! Anyway-Bale-Lead or supporting? He is nominated for lead at the Globes.

TStechnij
Bale is so supporting. They only did that at the Globes because the race was desolate. Tom Hardy is godawful in The Revenant. The worst of H is hammy tendencies multipled by ten. It was like he was in a whole different movie. He won't happen. If Fox had any sense they'd push Poutler who is great-- cast standout even ahead of Leo. It seems like it'll be Rylance, Stallone, Elba and some combination of Bale, Tremblay, Shannon, Keaton and Ruffalo for the last two spots. Praying for no Ruffalo! Impact
Christian Bale for The Big Short Tom Hardy for The Revenant Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies Michael Shannon for 99 Homes Sylvester Stallone for Creed Alt: Paul Dano for Love and Mercy Took me a while to think of who to put!
Cmasterclay
God, this category is a tough nut to crack this year. There's like 15 guys. I wouldn't even be stunned at all if on nomination morning, we wake up and they went for someone out of left field at this point like Isaac or Del Toro or Jason Mitchell. For now... 1. Rylance 2. Stallone 3. Elba 4. Shannon 5. Dano First ones out are the two Spotlight guys and Bale, with Tremblay and Hardy trailing behind in a group with Mitchell, Del Toro, Sam Elliot, Isaac, Jason Segel (if they put him here) and Goggins. I thought about putting one of the Spotlight men here, but was not sure which one or who he would replace.
solaris
Sad not to see Del Toro in the running for Sicario. That was one of the best performances I've seen in years.

Avatree
Has Michael Shannon got a real chance at a nomination? He gave my favourite performance from any actor/actress this year.
Cmasterclay
Very real. Rare for someone to get both Globe and SAG and then miss out on an Oscar. But this year is so weird for supporting actor I have no confidence in anyone besides Rylance.
Ezen Baklattan
Rylance has the most consistent showing here, so honestly, he may be primed to win.
MinaTakla
Calling it despite the precursors: Tom Hardy will get a BSA Oscar nom for this role He'll be this year's Jonah Hill (zero precursors), BSA nom
