Um actually several successful franchise starters that don't go much over $300m OS do double their OS gross with the next movie. Batman Begins, Twilight, Pirates, Ice Age, and Shrek being some examples.

All of those movies' sequels, except for Ice Age, had huge increases from their predecessors domestically though.

Is Oz in 3d? Does it have any big names in it? Remember Alice had big names attached and was the first big 3G film after Avatar.In what universe will Pacific Rim and Lone Ranger come close to 1 billion?

Oz will be in 3D and partly 2D. It has Rami with a fantasy big budget film. But yeah, 1B is no lock for this but its possible.PR could be the new Jurassic Park, who knows...LR could be the new POTC...

LR is a cowboy movie, even with Depp how much can it break out? PR IMO doesn't equal JP. I think a closer comparison would WotW or ID4.

Lone ranger will be lucky to make 500m, but in reality it will probably bomb...
