AVENGERS Official Wknd Estimates: 191M - Disney

Recommended Posts

The fight plus the Derby has, what, 50 million people gathering to watch?

If just 2% of them decided to watch AoU instead, that's almost $15 million in lost revenue for opening weekend. Would have broken OW, but too bad.

How do you know all those people wouldn't have just seen it yesterday or waited till Sunday?

The fight started around 8pm on the west coast, and with most ppl gathering up to 3 hours before, plus the Spurs Vs. Clippers playing earlier, AOU's daytime screening was definitely effected.

Sure but you don't know by how much. It's not like everybody that gathered for the fight was going to see the Avengers. Out 7 people in my house watching the game  only 3 people including me has any interest whatsoever in seeing the Avengers. I saw it on Thursday and the other 2 saw it on Friday.

I went to the Arclight Sherman Oaks tonight. It was busy, but not significantly so. Seemed like a pretty typical Saturday night, no major lines (not even for concessions).

Well, Arclight concessions suck, so no wonder there were no major lines  :P

If this were a DC movie then I'd be more bullish about the Sunday drop being softer, but it's going to be hard for AoU to match TA1's -18%. Definitely better than IM3's -30% though.

ya ive never been a boxing fan and after that im still not. "fight of the century?" both guys are perfectly fine after it, smiling, chilling with their peeps...i dont get it, if that was supposed to be the pinnacle of boxing today, was a freakin borefest. i see better fights after the bars close every weekend.

Definitely wouldn't say definitely. A drop a little higher than IM3's is certainly possible

And I don't know what DC vs Marvel has to do with Sunday drops. Man of Steel had a soft drop cuz of a holiday

TDK and TDKR didn't have holidays and were under 10.5%

MMA is better than this..

yeah im an mma fan, i much more enjoy the more exponential amount of strategy then with boxing. as i said, ive never been a boxing fan, and maybe i just dont understand it, but that was super boring, the whole time i was thinking mayweather isnt even doing anything, yet won the fight unanimously and seemingly comfortably? yup, just not for me.

Better than Rallax's theater, lol. His was a ghost town. I saw nothing but tumbleweeds.
