Damn Home is only going to drop by 4% this weekend. It's showing some late legs. It could topple HTTYD 2 domestically.

That's not likely. It'll be $5m short after this weekend and IO hits in two weeks. While the legs have been fantastic, they won't make up the gap before the competition hits.

JW could impact it, too. It's broad enough that it should hurt everything, like AoU did.

So when are you coming to NYC so we can do a Nolan marathon at my place?

I was in NYC a couple of weeks ago actually, was at the WFC for 2 days on assignment. Arrived Tuesday morning, left Wednesday evening.

Currently doing a weekly OC to Chicago trip for work that I would really rather not be doing.

Like I said somewhere in the thread, fox will have a disappointing summer/overall year. If Tammy can open to 35+ then Spy should have opened to at least Kingsman numbers with all the positive reviews and buzz.

They, Fox, should have kept Lucasfilm deal with George. At least there is a balance of power of some sort. Now Disney owns everything. Maybe even the next Bond franchise

They still have Fantastic 4, Peanuts, Maze Runner 2, Ridley Scott's The Martian, and whether you like it or not : those Chipmunks.

These combined could at least add $1.5B WW to Fox line up for the year for a full year combined of $3B WW. Not bad for a "disappointing year."

Lower opening than I expected for Spy honestly, but I would be pretty surprised if it wound up lower than Kingsman total.

Prepare to be surprised. I feel Fox has a horrible marketing team. They just don't know how to open their movies anymore. A lot of their films have a meh-good opening weekend, but nothing shocking. And that too after getting all the praise and love...imagine if Spy sucked..could have easily done sub 25 million..to be fair their movies do tend to have legs..MR, Kingsman..and maybe Spy too..but all had openings in the 30s.

Only Fault in our stars had a truly awesome opening day, but then petered out. Can't blame..it was based on a very popular book from a popular writer so was always going to be front loaded.

Spy is a tad disappointing to me, but I hope it does well; I'll see it Tuesday.

I don't necessarily see it having great legs with the 1-2-3 punch of Jurassic World, Inside Out, and Ted 2 in the next three weeks though

Can we have a more strict spoiler rule? I entered the Spy thread to see what people are saying about its OW, and there are untagged jokes. Not a plot spoiler obviously, but I always get pissed that as soon as a movie comes out, people are posting dialogue without tags within a day of release
