Blu-ray sales thread 2012

No answer?

That project has been shelved because of the shitty reporting of the-numbers which got everything confused. I still track numbers for my own, but there is no way to validate them, and it includes a lot of estimates and projections on my part, so I have not posted them.

I agree. It was entertaining but didn't leave any impact on me at all, just another superhero movie. Don't care to see it again.

The main problem with this film (and Marvel studios approach in general) is the fact that they are so determined to not take the "Uber serious" route that when it's time for the film to have a serious moment, there's no real dramatic heft to support it. If the heroes don't take the threat seriously, why should the audience be invested in their plight? I'm sorry, but a climactic finale that has Iron Man getting trapped under a soccer mom's car completely takes me out of the story.Say what you will about Nolan's Bat films and various other CBM's that have taken a darker path, but when the threat makes an appearance, it's treated as a legit threat and something we should be emotionally invested in.

Actually, I find the opposite to be true. When a franchise has humour and fun, relatable characters it has much more impact when something bad happens to the heroes. That's why Empire Strikes Back was so powerful, because A New Hope was so light-hearted and fun it made us care about the characters when it came time to go deeper and darker in the second film. TA2 will be the same. With The Dark Knight trilogy, as good as it is, the dark, serious tone throughout makes it hard to care about anyone, so moments that should have a big emotional impact, like Rachel Dawes' death, fell flat for me.As for TA's home video sales, it's doing fine. The delayed box set has hurt its sales, plus many people will be waiting until after Thanksgiving to pick up a copy. It's a perfect stocking stuffer.

So what did Prometheus end up selling? Why is Home Video reporting such a god damn clusterfuck? You would think studios would want that reported just as prominently as box office considering it's one of their biggest cash cows.

Don't know yet. The numbers is way behind on reporting. They've been behind since Avengers release.

I was tracking DVD sales for long time, and it was never ever some SOLID source for data, it's much much better now compare to what was few years ago, when I had a big thread on BoxOfficeMojo.we are lucky to have at least those crazy numbers from numbers.com :)Marek
