Shock! And also horror. Move over Mark Darcy – Bridget Jones has a new love. His name is Ian Pad (though he trendily goes by iPad), and he’s clearly the best thing in her life (and arms) right now. Yes, it’s the first picture of Renée Zellweger as Helen Fielding’s heroine from the third Jones outing, called – currently, at least – Bridget Jones’s Baby.
 

The original Bridget’s director Sharon Maguire is back to make this one, from a script that has seen work by Fielding and Far From The Madding Crowd’s David Nicholls. Plot-wise, details are still locked in Bridget’s diary.
 

The title points to the early days of Bridget getting unexpectedly preggers and exploring the joys and challenges of motherhood. Patrick Dempsey is also in the cast in an unspecified role, though he could well be a new romantic rival, since Hugh Grant won’t be showing up in this one. There’s some debate as to whether Dempsey might be the father instead of Colin Firth’s Mark, which would add the requisite dramatic tension and potentially a chance for Firth to put hisKingsman skills to the test and avoid another rubbish slap fight. The cameras are cranking now, and we can expect delivery on the film on September 16 next year.

Not sure if it'll do well, it's been too long since the Edge of Reason. I assume it'll do well in the UK but the September release date in the US does make me think Universal aren't expecting to do big numbers in the US

Yeah they can photoshop one image, but they can't change the fact that she looks unrecognisable now.

She stopped doing movies for five years, that combined with the 12 year gap between movies is just going to cripple this film at the box office. Dead franchise, dead actor, dead box office.

The book was also not that well received by fans who were pissed off that

Darcy played by Firth is killed off in the book before page one

.

 

They may have changed it but then again "Plot-wise, details are still locked in Bridget’s diary" so maybe not and they're trying to fool the audience (who would again be pissed)

Working Title has made sequels to Mr Bean, Nanny McPhee and Johnny English in the past so it's no surprise Bridget Jones is getting another film.

It's currently scheduled to go against Screen Jem's 'When the Bough Breaks' both films are geared towards 25+ female crowd so I think this release date hurts both. 

 

They should put this in August, and take advantage of the fact that there are no films currently scheduled there for the female audience.

She also doesn't really look like Renee Zellweger. Ok that's a bit of an exaggeration but still...you didn't need it Renee!

To many, Bridget Jones is the most witty and funny romantic comedy franchises ever. Hardly dead.

It's best forgotten.  Horrible movie but then the book was sub par as well.  The first was a charmer though yes it's been a long time between movies.

I do have a confession though-I actually liked Crocodile Dundee 3-it was better then the 2nd (then again that isn't that hard, part 1 is a classic, part 2 was meh)
