keysersoze123
That is terrible. If it does similar numbers rest of europe then it wont even do 500m OS. I cant see this breaking out in China.

Zootopia is the number 1 of 2016 with only 4.8 mio admissions. Edited November 17, 2016 by efialtes76

With a more decent gross there the whole trilogy could have done 1 billion each. Relative to China and FB, this should go well over $100m. DH2 already did $60m in 2011 and looking at figures that LOTR-HP did in 2001-2003 there, I think both franchises were equally liked, more or less. Considering that Hobbit 3 already did $120m last year and with 5 years inflation since DH2, it could reach $150m, maybe more. Given how Hollywood films have been performing in China in the past year or so, I think it's worth hedging your bets. Look at predictions vs reality for Mission Impossible 5, Kung Fu Panda, Star Trek Beyond, etc. EDIT: Also, The Hobbit 3 would have been under $110M with the current Yuan-to-USD exchange. It is actually better than DS's second day, despite DS's OD being almost double the one of FB! Also, comparing to DH2 after 2 days: FB: 3.4m (515k adm) DH2: 2.9m (441k admissions) Was there a holiday today in SK or is it just fantastic WOM? I did not even remember to have posted that message. The difference is that China had just met its new top grosser ever when I posted that. The market has slowed down A LOT since then. And I sincerely thought that Hobbit behaviour could be a good reference for Harry Potter, since LOTR and HP did similar figures in 2002-2004 and because DH2 already did over 400m Yuan 5 years ago. It is obvious that FB is not making 1 billion Yuan now. Maybe 500-600m is the target now.
chrisman0606
I wonder today Thursday if Warner Brothers is going to give out the first day box office estimate numbers report for Fantastic Beasts worldwide since it opened yesterday in a few Countries like France and South Korea for example. efialtes76
Indonesia scored a similar phenomenon with $480K on 690 screens for a Top 5 market share of over 75%. This is the best opening for a Wizarding World movie save for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2.
