Just now, Ethan Hunt said:

I'm like super pumped for the countdown

And I am hoping a consensus emerges soon so I can have the #25-#16 positions prepped and ready to post on Saturday with the Top 15 revealed on Sunday (or maybe #25-#11 Saturday and Top 10 Sunday)

On the one hand, I watched, for me, a lot of movies in 2015. Not a lot for some of the folks on this forum, but more than I usually do. On the other hand, I watched a *lot* more old movies in 2015 than I normally do because 2015 was the year I decided it was time to get the Wrathettes up to speed on their pop-culture plus movies I loved when *I* was a kid (at least, to the degree that the Wrathettes are age-appropriate to watch. "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS" will have to wait a few years. Its possible we'll never quite get around to that one). So I ended up watching Phantom Menace 4 times (which allowed me to appreciate it a little more, but it was still agonizing) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 3 times (which was awesome) plus Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Big Trouble in Little China and tons and tons of other old stuff.

So it was a great year for movie watching for me, but not the best in terms of preparing me to fill out this list because I did an especially poor job of watching the top Oscar contenders. Never saw Bridge of Spies, never saw Carol, never saw Room (though as a parent that probably wasn't going to happen anyway), never saw Big Short, never saw Ex-Machina, saw Max Max for the 4th time instead of seeing Creed, etc. But I guess I'll do my best.

Ok, enough procrastinating. Here we go.

1. The Force Awakens (they didn't screw it up, so while this was almost certainly not the best movie of the year (though it was probably in the top 5), on my list it *had* to be #1)

2. Mad Max

3. Spotlight

4. Inside Out

5. The Martian

6. Kingsman

7. Brooklyn

8. Revenant

9. Ant-Man

10. Paddington (Genuinely good and I'm afraid a bunch of folks will forget it was a 2015 movie)

11. Cinderella

12. Mr Holmes (Laura Linney was robbed not getting a Best Supporting Actress nomination for this. Of the ones I saw, she should have gotten McAdams' nod. Its funny, I clearly liked Spotlight a lot, but I didn't think the acting nominations were deserved. I thought McAdams was good, but not nomination worthy, and I thought Ruffalo was actually miscast and totally overacted. Keaton was great, though, as were Schreiber and Tucci. Also, whoever played the first victim they interviewed, the 20-something guy with the tattoos, absolutely killed it.)

13. Jurassic World (I'm not a hater)

14. Black Mass

15. Hateful 8

16. Love and Mercy

17. Sicario

18. It Follows

19. Home

20. Mission Impossible 5

21. Age of Ultron

22. Spy

23. Suffragette

24. Hotel Transylvania 2 (I suspect that people w/o kids will think this movie was stupid, while people with kids will remember it a bit more fondly. It was secretly aimed at the parents and grandparents, not the kids)

25. Goosebumps

Everything after Home was a little "meh" to me, but I figured I may as well put on the full 25.
