4815162342
Come on, it's fun! I'm still holding off because a couple films are still without distributors and are hoping for a good festival showing to get a release date. The big one is Malick's To the Wonder, which is showing at Venice but so far has had several studios view it and reluctant to bite.

Focus might go for it as well, I think.
RichWS
I can't wait for that one. I really, really hope it arrives this year.

MovieMan89
Wait, wait, who the hell has said that the Avengers could be nominated? LMFAO. :rofl:It has a better shot than DH2 did last year. #trufax
Sims
It has a better shot than DH2 did last year. #trufax No. I'm not saying that because I think DH2's reception was any better, but DH2 came from a weaker year than this one is shaping up to be. It likely got a few #1 votes.
MovieMan89
No. I'm not saying that because I think DH2's reception was any better, but DH2 came from a weaker year than this one is shaping up to be. It likely got a few #1 votes.True last year was extremely weak, but the Academy was never gonna nominate DH2. I can guarantee you they had 3-5 other films lined up to take its spot before they would've picked it. At the very least I think TA is in that same #12-15 range DH2 was likely in last year, probably a little higher. Kvikk Lunsj
TDKR or TA are not going to get nominated.
ZattMurdock
I really hope Avengers can get nominated.Come on-star the campaign!(Hey Brave is more liked then Loud and Close. Then again so is: Dictator, John Carter, Mirror, Mirror, Woman in Black....)I do too. No movie this year deserves more so far. I don't think it will win, but a nomination I think that can end up happening.

lab276
Yeah, TA is the opposite movie to what normally gets nominated.
Kvikk Lunsj
TA is a fun film but the academy does go for those films. The academy is an old group. That why the Hobbit has advantage it is a classic book which they read. I am guess most in the academy voting people have even seen Avengers yet or any of the Marvel films. Webslinger
I would love to see Moonrise Kingdom nominated for Best Picture (if it's not my favorite movie of the year to date, it's darn close). However, Wes Anderson is an acquired taste (as in one that everyone should acquire, but I digress ) and his distinctive style is all over the film, so the fact that they haven't already embraced his work is a somewhat troubling sign as far as the film's awards prospects are concerned. Kvikk Lunsj
Moonrise Kingdom was a disappointed such a mediocre film and that is putting it nicely.
Jake Gittes
Well, The Royal Tenenbaums was nominated for Screenplay and FMF for Animated Film, so considering the overwhelmingly positive critical reception and strong box-office gross of Moonrise Kingdom, if there was ever a perfect time for the Oscars to embrace Anderson with a BP nom, it's now. Personally I think it could and should be a contender for Picture, Original Screenplay, Cinematography and Production Design.
