Man, this really is a weird year. I think we are going to see quite a few differences among the upcoming award shows. Spotlight is far from out of the game, PGA & DGA will be much more important to deciding BP winner.

Peace, Mike I've seen all of them too besides Bridge Of Spies and I thought the exact same.

I didn't think Room was better then Spotlight. Spotlight had so many amazing performances and was gripping right from the start. Mark Ruffalos characters brief breakdown felt real. Never seen this much vitriol spit at one of his movies before, especially one that's racking up awards (though I haven't seen the movie so maybe it sucks or he sleepwalked through it and that's why). I like Leo a lot. I didn't think this performance was particularly amazing. The movie itself is very pretty and cool to look at it, but I felt it was completely vapid and empty, and it's something I've been souring on ever since I saw it a couple months ago.
FilmBuff
I'm glad overrated films didn't win crap and got shutout.
Blankments
I'll be able to go in open-minded to The Revenant guys lol. I just get mad and pissy during awards season, especially when it comes to my wounds from last year

The Revenant is good, but nothing special.

I can totally see why the HFP wouldn't go for it as much to be honest. I loved The Big Short but it feels a bit too, I don't know...frat-ish?...to be a Best Picture winner. Guess we'll have to see how well it does on Thursday morning.

Christian Bale could have been listed as a supporting actor. Matt Damon was amazing too but The Martian is not a comedy and he kind of played an extremely likeable version of himself. He should have been in the drama category. Carell and Bale likely split votes, plus The Martian won Film.

If it doesn't, then I will start to question its chances. To me it seems like exactly what they would go for today.
