You never snuck? That was my life from 6th-12th grade. I was a goddamn phantom.

I never had to do it.  The only time you could consider a sneak in was one movie ws supposedly sold out so we bought tickets to the movie that was playing in that aisle of theaters so instead of going to the one we bought the tickets for we went to the "sold out" one, yet somehow no one complained about not having a seat.  So obviously it wasn't actually sold out :P

I'm pretty sure only Tele (of course), DAR, and Baumer are the only other ones who remember this, but the whole "carding at the movies" thing was an especially big deal back in 1999 when many were blaming violent movies/video games (in particular, The Matrix) for causing Columbine. I remember reading that summer stories about a lot of teens who were buying tickets for PG-13 movies just to sneak into R-rated ones like the South Park film and were caught trying to do so.

Yeah I do remember getting carded at the time even though I was in my mid 20's

$40M+ OD for an R-rated movie featuring a vulgar and supposedly obscure comic book character, potentially ending in a $100M OW. Wow. Just... wow. Even in my most optimistic dreams I saw that coming.

Lmao, I just checked, it says 12 in there  They are drunk, it was rated 16 here.

Yup. Funny stuff  I don't live in Barreiro, I live in Baixa da Banheira, to be exact.

Yeah, 12 or above for essentially legal porn would be even too much for us to handle :D

That's near Moita, right? Bummer, but oh well, I was thinking about watching Deadpool in Fórum Barreiro or Fórum Montijo or something, maybe we might bump into each other (if you're going to watch it again next weekend, or be in one of those at all :P)

I saw Sleeping with the Enemy with a theater full of black women.   The amount of "girl you don't have to take that"  and "shoot that man's ass" equaled one of the most purely fun times at the cinema

I remember going to buy tickets for JOHNNY MNEMONIC (yeah yeah) with my girlfriend (now Mrs Tele, who's about the same age as me) and the cashier asked "one adult and one child?"

If Deadpool ends up doing say 47-50M, Rth's updates will make tonight the best forum night since June 12, 2015.

That at being said, I think it'll come in closer to 36-37M (just so I don't get disappointed).

They also blamed Marilyn manson and Eminem for Columbine too. 1999 was a crazy year.

Boy am I stoked to be kicking some 12 year olds out of the theatre tonight ^_^

I mean, I feel bad doing it if the kid seems nice, but 80% of the time they're the type of kid who, well, you know is just a tool.

LOL. I guess that was the only way to make the movie entertaining (since there's no entertainment value to be found in a subject as depressingly rooted in reality as domestic violence).

I was 18 in the summer of 1999 so you can imagine I was carded at all the R rated movies I saw that summer (The General's Daughter, South Park, American Pie, Eyes Wide Shut, The Blair Witch Project, etc.).

another anecdote! when i saw 22 jump street because there was arranged seating (great) and this was a particularly busy show some kid was sitting in someone else's seat and when the staff got brought in to kick the kid out he literally started crying and going on about how he couldn't find his ticket. he looked like a little shit so i gotta admit i found it funny like it was a warm up act for the movie.

I remember two Simpson's episodes involving going to R rated movies.

The first was Milhouse with a bunch of other kids telling Bart they we were going to see an R rated movie that was called Barton Fink and riding off chanting "Barton Fink, Barton Fink"

The other was when Bart made a drivers license for Nelson and they went to see an R rated movie and as they are walking out the marquee says "Naked Lunch" and Nelson says "I can think of two things wrong with that title."

You folks who never snuck into anything have missed out on some really crappy movies. Seriously, there's some shit from the early-2000's I'm still embarrassed about sitting through.

oh believe me I've seen them, I just didn't have to sneak in to do it :P
