I think what we're seeing with the increased presales (both for JTTW2 and Buddies In India) is the proliferation of online ticketing apps. Some 75% of all tickets were bought online in 2016, a 25% increase from the previous year. Douban is filled with antis for all movies it seems but general audience reaction is good and saying the movie combined the strengths of both directors.
