Maybe he pulled a Bryan Singer and actually grew the cornfields seen in the movie. Apparently, Christopher Nolan actually grew the cornfields seen in Interstellar, and sold the corn for a profit #HailNolan

NOLAN = GENIUS

With respect to draws, economists find movie stars play a small role in box office performance.

     http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/28/business/media/28cast.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

A Forbes analysis in the early aughts:

"Of the 100 most popular movies of all time (based on box-office gross adjusted for inflation), 42 were made after 1975. Of these 42, half featured no star actors (defined as someone who had top billing in at least one hit movie previously).

The movies at the very top of the list–Star Wars, E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial and Titanic–had no stars. ( Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo DiCaprio became a star in Titanic, but he was not one before.) Of the top 15, seven had no stars, and six certainly did. The other two, both sequels to Star Wars, featured Harrison Ford Harrison Ford , who became a star by virtue of the first installment of that intergalactic series."

Gonna do some rest of run predicting while I wait for dinner:

Money Monster:

Remainder of this week: 2.8M (29.9M total)

May 27: 4.3M (800k Memorial Day, 1.1M Tue-Thu, 36.1M total)

Jun 3: 1.9M (600k weekdays, 38.5M total)

Jun 10: 1M (300k weekdays, 39.8M total)

It should barely finish above 40M, the TC losses are going to hit it hard the first two weekends of June. A 2.7x isn't too bad all things considered.

Neighbors:

Remainder of this week: 9.5M (31.3M total)

May 27: 8.7M (1.9M Memorial Day, 2.5M Tue-Thu, 44.4M total)

Jun 3: 3.9M (1.5M weekdays, 49.8M total)

Jun 10: 1.7M (700k weekdays, 52.2M total)

Jun 17: 800k (300k weekdays, 53.3M total)

It would leg to 55M with a 2.5x, better legs than Ted 2.

Angry Birds:

Remainder of this week: 7M (46M total)

May 27: 23.4M (2M Memorial Day, 3M Tue-Thu, 74.4M total)

Jun 3: 12.9M (2.5M weekdays, 89.8M total)

Jun 10: 8.5M (1.7M weekdays, 100M total)

Jun 17: 4.2M (1M weekdays, 105.2M total)

Jun 24: 2.5M (700k weekdays, 108.4M total)

Jul 1: 1M (400k weekdays, 109.8M total)

Should finish over 110M with at least a 2.8x, pretty good.

The Nice Guys:

Remainder of this week: 3.4M (14.7M total)

May 27: 7.3M (1M Memorial Day, 1.2M Tue-Thu, 24.2M total)

Jun 3: 4M (900k weekdays, 29.1M total)

Jun 10: 2.2M (500k weekdays, 31.8M total)

Jun 17: 1M (300k weekdays, 33.1M total)

This would just squeak past a 3x.
