MEH-MORIAL DAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE | Abandon all hope, the box office is dead. 3 day weekend #s X-Men 65M, Alice 28.1M, Angry Birds 18.7M, Civil War 15.1M, Neighbors 9.1M. Bad openings, horrible holdovers.

That would be incredibly terrible multiplier off a $90M 4-day. I guess it's possible.

With a 29m Friday it could just do 70m 3-day and 85m 4-day, then finish in the 160s.

What about The Conjuring 2 ?

It will break out. It is entering a market completely lacking any horror movies and is a well known brand as well. I think a 40-50M OW or more is possible for it.

I actually don't think NYSM2 will fall huge from the first part for some reason, it just seems like disposable enough entertainment.

It'll still do fine for its budget tho, not a full-on tank

TMNT2 won't drop a lot, at least not enough to be called a flop or a bomb. I still see around a 50M OW and around a 120-150M close for it. They have a lot of fan trust this time with the introduction of Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady and Casey Jones. Fans have been waiting forever to see those characters in a big screen adaptation.

The budget is probably 150M. I guess that if it does 400M WW Paramount will be pleased but won't greenlight another sequel.

That Tarzan number ain't happening. Try half. Same for BFG.

WTF is that X-Men number? An increase from DoFP!??! You are better than this.

Funny story from last night

This guy around 20 comes in with his girlfriend. He's wearing a GOTG shirt and says he wants to go to Apocalypse. I was like "sorry but it doesn't open until Friday." He asked if there were any other superhero movies playing and I said "well we do have Civil War which is only here until Thursday."

"Nah, I don't like Marvel movies." And he left.

Love this guy!

Subtract ~30m from Civil War, add it to Dory instead and you're probably not off on the top 2.

Subtract $50m from Suicide Squad and give it to Jason Bourne.

EPIC and TOMORROWLAND were also MD openers.

EPIC did 42.8m 4-day / 107.5m dom.

TOMORROWLAND did 42.7m 4-day / 93.4m dom.

ALICE 2 DOM UNDER ALICE 1 OW looking plausible

:depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp::depp:

Alice Through The Looking Glass has a strong chance of making less then the first did on it's opening weekend. What a bomb.

It's barely going to make more than Alice 1's first two days.:sadben:
