Though not as strong as they could've been without Jason Bourne and SS looming.

Jason Bourne won't hurt it and SS will only affect it for one weekend. At most they'll remove .2x or so

The marketing could have been much better but at least Paramount started trying for the past month or so. Universal shit the bed on Bourne's campaign and it went from a movie with 250M potential to something that probably won't do more than 140-150M (and I'm being generous).

Genuinely wondering if Universal remembers that Jason Bourne is opening this coming weekend. Seen TV spots and posters/billboards for Bad Moms and Suicide Squad everywhere - barely anything for Bourne.

Nor trying to be a dock but whereally are u getting your outliers from @WrathOfHan.....how do u know it had 250 potential?

Ultimatum adjusts to 286M and Supremacy 245M. With proper buildup and marketing this could have been massive (assuming the movie is good).

Jason Bourne is tracking in the 50m range which is similar to Rogue Nation last year. Why do people think it is going to do bad?

Because there's been barely any marketing: only one trailer, a Super Bowl ad, and a couple of regular spots.

Thats all you really need for an adult targeted film

Not for a tentpole like Bourne.

Most tentpoles that get early marketing aim for that oh-so-desired teenage boy set. I doubt there are many in that age bracket that plan to see Jason Bourne in the first place.

Universal's marketing was so killer last year that the way they're handling Bourne is inexplicable.  The last Damon Bourne did $227m Dom (9 years ago) with each film making more than the last.  Do they think the Renner Bourne killed all momentum to the point they've lowered their sights to where selling almost half the tickets is an OK thing so why spend money on marketing?  Damon is just coming off the Martian so it's not as if audiences have cold turned on him.

Not all of it but I imagine that a stronger sense of excitement would be here if the Renner film had never been made.

Ok.....just saw IA5. 15% full

I know everyone likes to rag on it, but the movie was much better than Pets and the animation was 10X better.

The marketing for Pets was Marvelous!

They need to teach a course.

Is there a reason the BO has been so poor this summer? ST numbers are good for this summer, but poor in comparison. Even movies that made a ton of money feel like they under performed.

Only animated movies seem to have avoided it.

Outside of Jurassic World, was it much better last summer?

As a fan of space opera films, what a time to be alive. Rare that there's even one successful series of films going on, but right now we've got Star Trek, Star Wars, and Guardians of the Galaxy all releasing within the year and it is glorious :D

The Bourne Ultimatum

only had two trailers the first being released in May that year

Rogue Nation also had two trailers and tv spots. Not even a superbowl ad
