So it seems like JASON BOURNE just sort of came and went, or at least, this has to be the quietest action movie with Damon that would almost rival BOURNE LEGACY it seems... So I guess the concensus on that is that maybe they should've just left well enough alone or what???

It's the worst of Damon's Bourne.

Yeah, it's not that good. Pretty by-the-numbers.

The part that appeases me? Drop on Saturday comapred to Fri (even when you remove Thu previews), bigger drop than GotG on Sunday, bigger on Monday, bigger on Wednesday. Only Tue had a a bigger increase than GotG and that's because Tuesdays have become inherently stronger year after year. Don't tell me that I'm being selective when you're the one who has no evidence. In any case, we'll talk on Saturday AM when we know the Fri gross. I don't have to prove you wrong if I can just wait for the numbers.

Last week there was that TMobile deal that gave major discounts for only Friday, though.  Some people who planned to see it Saturday surely shifted to Friday night to take advantage of the discount.

I'll wait until I see the numbers that come in and draw conclusions from them.

@Nova things was going off the rails so I got back on subject.

LOL, I love how important it was to get things "back on subject" when there were several people pointing to the flaw in logic inherent in comparing Sausage Party (an R-Rated Comedy) to Suicide Squad (PG-13 Rated Superhero Film).   You had plenty to say on SP that helped get things "off-topic" until numbers and stats came up.  I mean honestly, if you're so confident it won't do well, then why take every opportunity to point at how it's opening is going to suck? Just let the numbers speak for themselves.

Comedies aren't about giant opening weekends anyway.  They're about legs.  SP was never going to do as much in its previews or opening as SS, but that doesn't make its interest and presales anything to scoff at.  I think it's going to do quite well, and considering it's both an R-Rated Comedy and an animation, that's impressive.

As for Pete's Dragon. No idea what to expect.  Family Films have generally been doing well this year, but when they fall, they tend to stumble pretty hard (see: BFG).  Of course by all accounts BFG was a mess in its execution and the dragon in Pete's Dragon is sure to have more interest with kids than a creepy uncanny-valley giant anyway, if only because it's cooler/cuter.  I'm surprised I haven't seen any plush toys of Elliot yet, honestly.

Could Jason Bourne surprass Supremacy?

Also, apparently Sausage Party's Budget is listed at 30 million.  If they do get an opening weekend of 30m as some places are forecasting, they hardly need to worry about what Suicide Squad is or isn't making this weekend.  They'll pretty much be making money from the first weekend out of the gate.

SAUSAGE could make 20m this weekend (I have it at 21-22m, with 2.5m previews and 10m OD) and be in the clear for Annapurna/Sony. If Megan Ellison was serious about wanting a franchise out of this, it may prove worth it...

Curious why PETE'S DRAGON isn't doing any previews?
