4815162342
Sully was solid. A quality B+. Got some decent applause at the end, though to be fair I live in a county which has a huge NYC commuter population, especially for NYC police/firefighters, so this kind of New York feel-good story is pure catnip for us folks.
Maxmoser3
After Sully debuting solid, Bough debuting decent. Two other releases flopping. This September slate looks very interesting, Blair Witch should debut around $20 million and make $50 million domestic. Bridget Joness' Baby should debut between $13-$15 million and make $40 million domestic and do great numbers overseas.

Noctis
The midnight screening I went to for London for DH2 was fucking insane. They easily cheered over 50 times.
filmlover
Craziest audience I've ever seen was Revenge of the Sith. Which is the only midnight show I have ever done.

I'd flip those two totals. None of the Harry Potter films save Sorcerer's Stone, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows 2 crossed $300mil domestic. Adjusted for inflation it's a different thing, but I still can't see a spinoff without the main cast drawing as much attention as a series drawing from the main line of books. Conversely, both DC films this year have crossed $300mil, so the audience is there. Plus, anecdotal evidence of course, after taking my daughter to school this week with her Wonder Woman backpack and meeting five female teachers and aides she'll be with, each one of them without fail said "I love that backpack!" followed by "Did you know the Wonder Woman movie is coming out?" I think the demand and anticipation is certainly there.
That One Girl
Craziest audience was when I saw The Visit. Some guy got so scared at one point, he dropped his popcorn all over the floor and yelled "WHAT THE HELL." in the best way possible. Perfect audience right there... CJohn
The Blair Witch Project was very good. A terrifying intense movie that builds up until the finale. There are some not so crazy theories about it which I have been reading about. I cant wait to see what Adam Wingard has in store with the new Blair Witch.
DAJK
Sully is doing 17M+ at my theatre today. Not expecting the actual sat bump to be as great but still solid.
Blankments
Kinda surprised Sully is doing better than Captain Phillips, but then again, that had Gravity to deal with whereas Sully's got the marketplace to itself. Will probably check out Sully next week.

Sully has had a month of pretty intense promotion.

Jandrew
Saw Sully with @MrPink and @Jayhawk, pretty dang good and even tense movie, but lmao at the last line. It wasnt San Andreas bad, but its still meme worthy. Next up, Interstellar in IMAX! 2 hours ago, 4815162342 said: Sully was solid. A quality B+. straggler
Sully sounds like the type of film Spielberg used to make before he became a snob. Craziest audience I ever saw was first show opening day for Empire Strikes Back. Was at the head of the line and the crowd almost trampled the movie usher to death. Fun times.
