On this, I'm going to semi-hijack the thread because I got bored last year and went down some film budget rabbit holes. I just don't think Free Guy (filmed in 2019) was in under budget.

So this article both claims Levy generally delivers films under budget and on time...but doesn't actually explicitly make that claim for Free Guy, the film the article is about. Looking at tax credits, Free Guy generated a tax credit from the state of Mass for $20,118,719.00. At a 25% credit, that's 80M in mass which excludes "The salary of any employee whose salary is equal to or greater than $1,000,000." There's a guarantee that this constitutes "either...75 per cent of the total production expenses for a motion picture or at least 75 per cent of the total principal photography days of the film take place in the commonwealth."
 

It also got indeterminate tax credits from Quebec and BC and doesn't include the LA filming or presumably VFX work done in CA based VFX houses like ILM and Digital Domain. Just looking at the credits, it really seems like the film clearly didn't come in under budget and may have (/likely?) gone over budget.

I just don't know what can be extrapolated from that to Deadpool 3. It's a massive film where the creators have all the leverage in the world given the damaged state of the MCU and the way this franchise represents a bet by Reynolds on himself.
