financially I think they are doing the right thing by getting this out ASAP.  Who knows about quality though.. It seems comedies rely on originality

Obviously it depends on what story they have. Neighbors 2 released two years after the first and didn't do so well. It's not just time.

STX is doing the right thing since this is their first real big hit, but I can see it going the way of Neighbors and Horrible Bosses where the audience felt that the concept was a one time thing and didn't even show up on OW.

So in back to back weeks in November we will see Christmas themed sequels which include the parents of the protagonists of the first movie. Would probably be wise for Daddy's Home 2 to move to December again.

I can see this opening to 40M OW or more. This seems like the breakout sequel to a well liked original like Pitch Perfect to its sequel.

Both trailers worked, liked how they had the end joke from the same scene but I think it worked better in the green band. 

 

This is is going to break out big imo, 40-50M OW won't surprise me.
