There is no Doctor Strange 2 movie. Instead, audiences will see the first and only trailer for Thor 4 on repeat for 2 hours and 6 minutes in the theaters.

Into the Spider-Verse did a whole character introduction / multiverse storyline and crafted a very good movie in 117 minutes. Acting like 126 minutes isn't enough time to have MOM be well done and complex is a fallacy.

The only reason the 126 minute runtime surprises me is because that would make it shorter than something like Shang-Chi.

The Batman isnt a great movie because its 3 Hours long. And 12 Angry Men isnt a great movie because its 96 Minutes long.

 

Runtimes dont make great movies. The content of those runtimes do. And i trust Sam Raimi to fill it in Doctor Strange with great stuff.

I wish people would stop acting like everything needs to be some 3 hour epic to matter these days. 2.5-3 hour long superhero movies should be the exception, not the norm.

2 hours and 6 minutes is more than enough time to tell a Doctor Strange story (yes, even one that has various multiverse cameos), and let’s not forget that this is Sam Raimi here, he’s not some hot new director fresh off his first indie, I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. A film is as long as it needs to be in order to tell its story, if Raimi thinks that 126 minutes is enough for this, then how about we trust him, and let’s be honest, none of the other MCU films of late have felt compromised by running time, so it’s unlikely Feige would start messing with this one given it’s apparent importance to the MCU.

 

If it’s a rushed mess on opening day then fair enough, complain away, but all this stress about 126 minutes seems like premature pearl clutching from people who have forgotten (or weren’t around for) a time when films rarely approached 3 hours.

Based on the run time I expect this to be a “ride” movie rather than anything with real character development and actors like Michael Stuhlbarg for example probably will have one line
