No, they dont as shown by iron man 3, ragnarok, gotg and vol 2, tfa, black panther and plenty others.

If anything, the reactions remind me of GoTG Vol.2 reviews. There were lot of complaints that Gunn shouldn't have been given that much of freedom. People who loved it, LOVED it. The fanbase was divisive upon release, but years later now it's looked back on as one of the better MCU movies.
