I do hate the term Oscar-bait. I think there are clear examples, but it seems to imply that it is bad/pandering. A lot of films that get that moniker aren't either.

I should probably revisit The Big Short one day, I saw it when I was tired and got lost during a lot of points since I wasn't keeping up with it all the time.  Still a really good movie.

I try to use "Oscar bait" as a neutral catch-all term for any movie with realistic Oscar aspirations. Though around this time it seems to just be used to describe any movie with awards attention that the person using the label doesn't like.
