filmlover
Battle of the Sexes will likely be Emma Stone's The Danish Girl and get her an afterglow nomination even if the film is mediocre. It's a great part.

Incarnadine
It would be awesome if Stone, Lawrence and Larson all get nominated.

filmlover
Wonder Wheel just got dated for December. Winslet coming for that second Oscar thanks to Woody.
Zakiyyah6
Every year people predict Jessica Chastain is going to be nominated and she isn't. Jessica Chastain is great but I think she's a quiet type of actress who doesn't hustle in that way to get a nomination unless the movie/performance is undeniable to the voters. I would not predict her unless she had a lot of other Award nominations going into the Oscar nominations.
filmlover
Sony Pictures Classics just picked up Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool. I would love nothing more than for Annette Bening to Julianne Moore her way to finally having her moment. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/sony-classics-annette-bening-film-stars-dont-die-in-liverpool-1202517703/

Sorry, Annette. Judi Dench, Victoria & Abdul (seems like the kind of nominee they go for unless reviews end up weak) Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird Meryl Streep, The Post Kate Winslet, Wonder Wheel I think Hawkins is gonna be the winner. Now that Battle of the Sexes reviews are out (and are quite favorable), I think Stone is getting in now. But who to kick out, though? Waiting to see what the reviews are like for Victoria & Abdul. Jake Gittes
Hawkins would be a really exciting winner, more so than almost anybody in recent memory in this category.

filmlover
Jessica Chastain is getting early raves for Molly's Game. And this category just got more crowded. Damn.
Ezen Baklattan
Gonna go with Chastain, Streep, Hawkins, McDormand, and Ronan for now. I can definitely see Hawkins winning it.
Jake Gittes
Having seen mother there's no doubt in my mind that Lawrence is out. It's not even a "great performance in a difficult film" kind of deal, the role itself is just too limited. Same with Pfeiffer.
