baumer
What's with the huge drop for Journey 2?Kids movies always drop massively on Mondays. Journey, SW and even some of the older films playing that are aimed at kids. They'll have the biggest jumps on Saturday this weekend.
FTF
So is the expectation then that since this is Valentines Day that other films who might normally see a 1-5% bump for Discount Tuesdays can forget about it BECAUSE any Romeo worth is salt will cave and go to Vow or at least This Means War? So Safe House, Woman in Black, SW:TPM 3-D, Journey 2, The Grey etc, basically anything but Vow or TMW will decrease most likely? Seems like what I'm reading. Not really- it's still discount Tuesday and not every couple going to the movies today will see just TV or TMW...plus there will be plenty of people going to the movies today that aren't on dates/are single, etc. So other movies will still increase today. baumer
Today is just a very big movie going day for everyone. Sure The Vow will benefit the most from it but there are plenty of films that will see big bumps today.
Incarnadine
I just checked the website for the nearest multiplex to me, The Vow is on 2 screens and 4 of the 6 evening shows are sold out already, safe to assume the other shows will sell out as well. Nothing else has a sell out yet.The combination of Valentine's Day falling on discount Tuesday and a freshly released romance movie could add up to close to a $10 million day. Fake
Both The Vow and Safe House should be hitting 100M.
Impact
You see there is a reason why studios were avoiding reissues for so long.It was called: the home video market. Nearly every major pre 1980 release relied on these. But then once the home video market happened, people were just not as intrested in these. Robertron
Will Tuesday numbers be stupid estimates or will they be actuals?I hate estimates for non weekends or public holidays!
stripe
Both The Vow and Safe House should be hitting 100M.With PD holiday helping, they will. Both will be over 80M after this long weekend. Also, Journey 2 has a good chance to reach that mark. This long weekend will play very strong and can reach the 60M mark. The weekend after President Day has zero competition. Edited February 15, 2012 by stripe

stripe
Kids movies. No different than any kids film in the dead of winter falling that much on a Monday.Agree. The fact TPM is having a run like a kids flick is positive. It's a sign that a new generation is going to the cinemas to see that. Maybe, we can be surprised by a decent hold next long weekend. PD is very friendly to kids films.

stripe
The legs it had during 1999 were really amazing. What if it connects with kids again?
pinocchio
The legs it had during 1999 were really amazing. What if it connects with kids again?Don't think this will happen. In 99 the SW fanboys dragged their kids into TPM and they loved it. Won't happen again this time IMO.Maybe the ANH 3D re-release will deliver great numbers again. stripe
I'm also sceptical with the legs, but with SW nothing is sure. Let's see.
baumer
I think this will play more like Jedi from 98. It will probably end with 45-50 mill and hopefully close to 100 mill WW.
