Looks like it's gonna be large theater drops for some still good-performing holdovers...it had to eventually happen, and it seems theaters are deciding to drop them in favor of picking up the many new releases...

As for my theaters, they seem to be deciding late on their sets...neither has done more than pre-sell some openers on single screens (Christopher Robin, Darkest Minds, and The Spy Who Dumped Me at one and Christopher Robin and The Spy Who Dumped Me at the other)...and they may still pick up another movie opener...I'm expecting no new movie to get double screened, but I'll be interested to see what good performing holdovers get dropped...

1st local (Cinemark)

NEW

Christopher Robin (1 - biggest) (6 showings)

The Darkest Minds (1 - smallest) (5 showings)

The Spy Who Dumped Me (1 - above average) (5 showings)

Goodachari (.2 - smallest) (1 showing)

Returning

MI6 (3 - 13 showings)

TTG (1 - 6 showings)

MM2 (1 - 5 showings)

Equalizer 2 (1 - 5 showings)

HT3 (1 - 6 showings)

Incredibles (.8 - 4 showings - split with Goodarchi)

GONE - It's a bloodbath

Ant Man 2, JWFK, Sicario, Unfriended, 2 foreign films (Saakshyam, Happy Wedding)

1 screen still open for splitting on openers or more likely booking another foreign film

2nd local (Regal)

NEW

Christopher Robin (1 - above average) (5 showings)

Eighth Grade (1 - below average) (6 showings)

The Darkest Minds (1 - smallest) (5 showings)

The Spy Who Dumped Me (1 - above average) (5 showings)

Returning

MI6 (2 - 10 showings)

TTG (1 - 5 showings)

MM2 (1 - 5 showings)

Equalizer 2 (1 - showings)

HT3 (1 - 6 showings)

Ant Man (1 - 4 showings)

JWFK (.2 - 1 showing)

Incredibles (.8 - 4 showings)

GONE

Unfriended, Skyscraper, 1st Purge

PS - Next week, that Regal is gonna be its own bloodbath, since they've booked 3 more new openers on 4 screens...almost certain MI6 will drop to a single screen and the bottom 3 movies are all gone (Ant Man, JWFK, and Incredibles)...will be interesting where the last screen comes from:)...

Gonna be hard to get rid of the "camp" movie entirely...I could see it getting split-screened with a better performing evening movie next week...

Now, if schools start in your area (and I know Florida starts early), yeah, it's a goner...

PS - I mention "camp movie" for TTG b/c my area's mall AMC has the back 3 rows (60+ seats) sold for its cheap matinee this morning as an obvious camp group buy...I wasn't looking other days, but there's only so long camps can take you to I2...and this movie might be the more palatable camp option over HT3...

Yeah, school starts on the 14th. Summer hours end the day before

That makes no sense given that Ant-Man is ahead of both of them in the dailies.

It’s been hanging out in smaller auditoriums than JW and I2 for the past two weeks, so my area just isn’t going for the movie I guess

Regal is running a See 4 Own 4 for Lionsgate movies: The Spy Who Dumped Me, A Simple Favor, Hell Fest, and Robin Hood. Kin isn't in there 🤔

That would be a great deal if there 4 Lionsgate movies I wanted to see or own.
