Jack Black and Eli Roth Plan The House With a Clock In Its Walls
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/860667-the-house-with-a-clock-in-its-walls-movie#3dBmQoghFpTHOw0Z.99

Lewis had always wanted to live in a house like Uncle Jonathan’s — full of marble fireplaces and secret passageways and dozens of unused, unexplored rooms. And living with Uncle Jonathan, a real wizard, was full of fun and surprises.

But while Uncle Jonathan practiced funny and comfortable white magic, the original owner of the old house, Isaac Izard, had been an evil sorcerer. Isaac Izard had devised a plan for bringing about the end of the world. Somewhere in the walls of the house he had hidden a clock. Every night Lewis and Uncle Jonathan could hear it ticking — sometimes loud, sometimes soft — marking off the minutes until doomsday.

Lewis knew they had to find the clock before it was too late. Then he decided to dabble in a litte magic of his own, and their time almost ran out.

Out of all of the four family films coming next September, this is definitely the most interesting-sounding one from the bunch, if only because of the idea of Eli Roth, aka The Green Inferno guy, directing a children's movie with Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.

This is going to be really interesting, as pretty much every one of Roth's movies have grossed me out, and not in a good way. Will be interesting to see what he can do without relying on gross-out violence. Death Wish had some competent moments for sure, but this one is going to be his real test.

Unless of course Jack Black decides to become a cannibal and get involved in genital mutilation... typical Roth kinda shit

I have to say, props to the distributor for going through with a film such as this!

Jack Black's career has been revitalized by the mega-success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (as well as Goosebumps) so I'm sure he'll be a selling point.
